A founding member of the Independent Ireland political party has announced that she is to contest the upcoming general election as an Independent candidate in Laois.
Elaine Mullally from Portarlington left Independent Ireland last month, over differences with its values.
Announcing her intention to contest the election as an Independent candidate Ms Mullally said: “A lot of people are like me. They’re fed up. They’re fed up with how the country is being run. They’re fed up with the current parties and politicians. They’re after having their own way for far too long.
“I believe that Laois deserves more. I know I have the courage and integrity to deliver.”
